GROUNDBREAKING SIÁN PROVES THAT LAMBORGHINI IS A FAST LEARNER

Only two years ago, Lamborghini had little time for the concept of hybridization. A battery approach, in their estimation, was unable to provide the right package in terms of either energy or power, and in short, there was no “emotion.” However, a lot can change in a short amount of time, when the future of the entire industry may rely on electric cars.

Times Change!

Enter the Lamborghini Sián FKP37.

The Sián will be the fastest Lambo of all time when it rolls out to one of the 63 lucky buyers later in 2020. It will feature some truly cutting-edge hybrid technologies mated to the traditional V12 and, according to CEO Stefano Domenicali, confirms that the company has a “strong connection to the territory in which we operate.”

Clearly, Domenicali believes that this storied exotic car manufacturer can now deliver the emotion that was in short supply back in 2018. But what’s so special?

How to Deliver Emotion

How about the low voltage e-motor built into the gearbox, to provide a direct connection to the wheels? Or the supercapacitor that will replace the standard battery technology, and that can produce high levels of power without all of that added weight.

Indeed, as the e-motor and the supercapacitor weigh so little, the car can maintain an admirable weight to power ratio. When combined with the upgraded V12 engine, this beauty turns out 819 hp and can reach a top speed of more than 350 km/h.

Constant Power

The Sián also features a trick braking system that can fully recharge the energy storage system every time the vehicle brakes. This technology means that power is always on hand to provide tremendous acceleration in low gear and, according to the manufacturer, this makes the Sián the fastest accelerating Lamborghini of all time.

Out of Stock

As you might expect, all 63 cars were snapped up by avid enthusiasts before the PR department announced its pending manufacture. Each one will be individually styled and personalised, as you might expect when the rumoured price is more than $2 million.

FKP

By the way, FKP is a tribute to the legendary Ferdinand Karl Piech, erstwhile executive chairman of the Volkswagen group. Piech sadly passed away last year, but he was always known as a visionary. After all, he pushed through four-wheel-drive passenger car technology when he was in charge of Audi in the mid-‘80s, and would undoubtedly have been right behind the groundbreaking Sián.
